BEACH PARTY ALPHA RETURNS
Over two day's time, thousands of troops will return home to San Diego. Sunday was the first wave of Sailors and Marines arriving from Iraq and Afghanistan. Family members and friends waited for 7 months for this moment, to hug, embrace, and be with their loved ones who were away in Iraq for over half a year.
Beach Party Alpha helped with relief after the Pakistan earthquake which killed tens of thousands.
On Monday, More than 3,000 sailors and Marines with Expeditionary Strike Group One will return home after a seven-month deployment in support of the war on terrorism.
The amphibious assault ship Tarawa, transport dock Cleveland and dock landing ship Pearl Harbor, along with an attachment of Marines from the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, will arrive at Naval Station San Diego.
